Come celebrate the fifth annual Spring Bird Festival at Colonel Samuel Smith Park with the City of Toronto in partnership with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Humber Arboretum, Citizens Concerned about the Future of the Etobicoke Waterfront and Friends of Sam Smith.

  • The festival aims to create awareness about the importance of bird habitats.
    • Colonel Samuel Smith Park is a well-established bird stopover location for many species of birds along the Etobicoke waterfront.
  • Highlights of the festival include:

    • hourly guided bird walks starting at 9 a.m.,
    • children’s activities,
    • crafts and games,
    • backyard habitat building workshop,
    • photography,
    • art workshops,
    • bird-friendly coffee,
    • bird-viewing stations,
    • a live reptile and amphibian display and
    • other educational exhibits.
  • Parking is limited and the festival is accessible by public transit.

Also, the City of Toronto and Councillor Ana Bailão (Ward 18 Davenport) will join members of the community to celebrate the start of construction for Lisgar Park with a groundbreaking ceremony.

  • The new park will feature, café-style seating with a garden area, a grove area with shade trees, and lighting mounted on art poles and timber columns.
  • The park will be a venue for arts events and displays.
    • Local neighbourhood creative talent will be featured along with talented artists from Parks, Forestry and Recreation programs.
