Ontario Family Fishing Events (OFFE) is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card.
- The Ontario Government designates two periods throughout the year as license-free:
- February 18-20, 2012 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Monday)
- July 7-15, 2012 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday)
- Non-residents require licences.
- During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario.
- Participants fishing without a license must fish under the Conservation fishing license limits which are set out in the current Ontario 2012 Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary.
- With the exception of the licensing requirement, Ontario fishing regulations, fees and limits continue to apply during license-free days.

- posted on the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources website
- available in print at ServiceOntario centres, other fishing license issuers, and a variety of other outlets

Ontario’s Family Fishing Week
Ontario invites you, your families and friends to fish licence-free during Ontario’s Family Fishing Week from July 7 to 15 as well as enjoy the province’s beautiful lakes and rivers in a fun and affordable way at Family Fishing Events in towns and provincial parks, which include:
- Eight Urban Fishing Festivals in the Greater Toronto Area
- This year, the Ministry of Natural Resources has once again extended the summer license-free period to a full week, from Saturday, July 7th to Sunday, July 15th.
- That’s the same time as National Fishing Week
- There are no fees for families taking part
- (Standard provincial park gate fees at Darlington and the ferry fee at Toronto Islands do apply.)
- Additionally, at all eight events kids
- can borrow fishing rods and basic tackle
- receive a supply of worms
- become eligible for any prizes that partners and sponsors supplied
- On top of that, several Urban Fishing Festival partners:
- serve up free hot dogs and drinks for all the children
- give away rods and reels on a first come, first-served basis, courtesy of the Canadian National Sportsmen’s Shows
