Congrats to Toronto’s film and television industry for having the best year 2011 in a decade with more than $1.13 billion in direct expenditures contributed to the economy of Toronto.

Today, 26 March, you can find out how and why Toronto is experiencing this success, 9:30 a.m., at Committee Room 1, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W. wherein:

  • Peter Finestone, the City’s Film Commissioner, presents the year 2011 in review to the Economic Development Committee.
  • Then, Paul Bronfman, Chairman and CEO of the Comweb Group and Chair of the Pinewood Toronto Studios, will present to the committee via teleconference on the topic “Big Studio – Big Budgets: Bringing a New Type of Business to Toronto.”

2011 the best year in a decade for Toronto’s film and television industry

Toronto’s film, television and commercial production industry had a very good year in 2011. In fact, 2011 was the strongest year since 2002, with more than $1.13 billion in direct expenditures contributed to the economy of the city last year.

Find out how and why Toronto is experiencing this success when Peter Finestone, the City’s Film Commissioner, presents the year in review to the Economic Development Committee on Monday.
