In the spirit of open dialogue, symbolic of different cultures living together peacefully and preserving original identities, Toronto EMS and TFS are proud to host this event in partnership with the Canadian Intercultural Dialogue Centre and the Turkish community. Staff of the two emergency services will join in sharing a centuries-old recipe for Noah’s Pudding.
Date: Friday, February 11
Time: Noon to 12:30 p.m.
Location: Toronto Emergency Services Headquarters, Atrium, 4330 Dufferin St.
Making Noah’s Pudding is a traditional practice among Muslims and Christians in the Middle East. In February, the pudding is shared with friends and neighbours as a gesture of goodwill and fellowship. Sharing the pudding symbolizes a civic responsibility to maintain good relations with neighbours of different religious beliefs and cultural backgrounds.
A presentation will explain the historic significance of this offering, followed by the attendees enjoying the Noah’s Pudding dessert together.
This event marks Toronto EMS’s and Fire Services’ commitment to access and equity in service delivery to the diverse citizens of Toronto and a commitment to engage the communities of Toronto to work together – consistent with the City’s motto: Diversity Our Strength.
