To celebrate the important benefits and values of recreation to individuals, families, neighbourhoods and communities, the City of Toronto will officially launch “June is Recreation and Parks Month” today June 1, 2011 at Christie Pits Park, 740 Bloor St. W. (at the picnic shelter near the south end of the park).
Here is the itinerary of the celebration with “Sharing Sports and Recreation” activities:
- 5:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. Remarks
- 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. – Sharing arts DJ demonstration
- 6:30 to 7 p.m. – Tuna Lazos de Amistad, group of 22 singers
- 7 to 7:15 p.m. – Spanish dancing
- 7:15 to 7:30 p.m. – Tamil dancers and performers
- 7:30 to 8 p.m. – Fitness class
Enjoy demonstrations of:

- canoeing,
- camping,
- soccer and gardening, as well as
- summer camp games, crafts, singing and Muay Thai!
