Operation Sparrow is pleased to announce the addition of art classes to its roster of year round choices for Aurora and Newmarket children. The organization has also agreed to distribute 10 free environmental camp spots courtesy of Georgian Lakes Conservation Authority. Operation Sparrow is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and providing physical and cultural activities to Newmarket & Aurora youths ages 3 – 18 years who are otherwise unable to afford to do so. Transportation to & from activities is also provided in some cases. Operation Sparrow has been distributing programs and services to local youths – additionally including karate, theatre & dance schools since 2007. They hope to attract other local service providers to the fold in the near future.
Says Sparrow Chair Tom Pearson, “The demand for programs has been overwhelming. Operation Sparrow enables kids to access top notch organizations alongside their peers without prejudice – boosting self-esteem of both parents and children in the making. These are often kids and youths who would not otherwise be participants in organized (afterschool) activities and is having a tremendous impact – based on the calls we receive back from parents and providers.”
Operation Sparrow is now accepting applications for September start programs. Availability for programs may affect ability to provide immediate participation. Once accepted, participants may stay as long as they continue to qualify to age 18. Applications are designed to be minimally intrusive so as to best maintain applicants’ dignity and are available at various pick-up locations in Aurora or Newmarket, including Robinson’s Karate locations, Peter Stanton School of Dance, Spotlight Theatre School, CMHA YR in Aurora, or electronically at:
