32 hours/week, $16/hr
Contract position from October 28, 2010 to March 25, 2011

The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is an artist-run cultural and educational media arts organization dedicated to celebrating excellence in the moving image. LIFT exists to provide support and encouragement for independent filmmakers and artists through affordable access to production, post-production and exhibition equipment; professional and creative development; workshops and courses; commissioning and exhibitions; artist-residencies; and a variety of other services.
LIFT requires a highly organized Development and Communications Coordinator to assist with the implementation of the 2010/11 development and communications plan. www.lift.on.ca
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING:
– Working with all LIFT departments and programs to develop tailored communications strategies and materials
– Promoting the organization’s activities through conventional and alternative media dissemination outlets, while building relationships for the organization in key communications outlets
– Coordinating fundraising events in the Winter of 2011
– Work to develop and implement a private sector support program for LIFT’s ongoing and project activities
– Regularly report to LIFT’s executive director and work closely with the development committee
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
This position requires the ability to multi-task in an often-hectic work environment. LIFT staff may be called upon to assist in all aspects of the day-to-day operations.
The ideal candidate will have some or all of the following qualifications:
– Strong written and verbal communications skills
– Excellent time management and organization capabilities
– Knowledge of the contemporary media arts sector
– Publicity and media relations experience
– Grant writing and development experience
– Knowledge of database software (Filemaker Pro)
– Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Mac platform)
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
All applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for this position:
– Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive)
– A post-secondary graduate, currently not enrolled in school
– A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
– Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations
– Not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits
– The ideal candidate is a self-directed team-worker, who is detail oriented
– The candidate should have a strong interest in the media arts
