This is an update to my previous blogs:
On June 23, 2012, employees and shoppers of Algo Centre Mall had to leave their personal belongings behind when the mall was evacuated after the roof collapsed.
Also, the Algo Centre Mall evacuees can’t enter the mall to retrieve them due to safety concerns and an ongoing investigation.
Ontario just made the following announcements regarding government-issued documents left behind at the Algo Centre Mall:
- Affected evacuees can replace their missing documentation at the Elliot Lake ServiceOntario Centre at 50 Hillside Drive North for FREE
- Furthermore, there are FREE replacements of missing, stolen or damaged health cards
- Those who already paid for replacement documents will be reimbursed
Documents covered by the ID replacement exemption for these Elliot Lake evacuees include:
- driver’s licences
- vehicle registrations
- Ontario Photo Cards
- Outdoors Cards
- affixed hunting and fishing licences

McGuinty Government Providing More Support for Local Families
Ontario is making it easier for Elliot Lake families by waiving replacement fees for government-issued documents left behind at the Algo Centre Mall. Some employees and shoppers had to leave their personal belongings behind when the mall was evacuated after the roof collapsed. They can’t enter the mall to retrieve them due to safety concerns and an ongoing investigation.
Documents covered by the exemption include driver’s licences, vehicle registrations, Ontario Photo Cards, Outdoors Cards and affixed hunting and fishing licences. Those who already paid for replacement documents will be reimbursed.
Affected individuals can replace their missing documentation at the Elliot Lake ServiceOntario centre at 50 Hillside Drive North.
