Talking about time in Canada!
I have two gentle reminders for you.
First, please move your clocks ahead by an hour this evening for daylight saving time which is effective at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 13. And also please change your smoke alarm batteries.
Second, Earth Hour 2011 will take place on Saturday, March 26 at 8:30PM (local time).
Please turn off your lights for Earth Hour from 8:30 – 9:30 pm and join a billion people around the world in showing your support for action on climate change and clean energy solutions as shown here:
WWF encourages you to let your voice be heard and pledge your support for Earth Hour.
In 2010, “global landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, CN Tower in Toronto, Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.
Canada shone above the rest with almost half the adult population participating. People in cities across Canada held candlelight dinners, enjoyed time with friends and family or went on walks. About 10 million people in more than 300 cities and towns in all provinces and territories switched off their lights” as shown in this 2010 video:
Canada, Happy Earth Hour!
