As the saying goes “cleanliness is next to godliness”; Mayor Ford of the City of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, will participate in graffiti removal this Thursday, April 7, as part of the CLEAN TORONTO TOGETHER campaign.
Mayor Ford is intent on making Toronto shine again as Toronto the Good and Beautiful!
The itinerary for the CLEAN TORONTO TOGETHER campaign is as follows.
March 30 was the start of The City’s three-week spring clean-up:
- It has already begun with several hundred City staff removing graffiti, cleaning up litter and hauling away dead trees and branches from City property.
- More than 500 staff participate in the cleanup effort.
- Three hundred pieces of equipment are involved, including 50 litter vacuums, 45 sweepers, 20 front-end loaders, 50 stake trucks, 11 collection trucks and 60 pickup trucks.
Thursday, April 7, is graffiti removal:
- The Mayor will participate in graffiti removal.
Friday, April 15 at 2 p.m., is Toronto’s 20-Minute Makeover:
- Residents, students, business professionals, elected officials and Toronto staff are encouraged to take time out of their day to do their part to clean up the city.
- Participants are asked to reuse a small plastic bag from home to collect litter.
- Free gloves and GLAD garbage bags (to hold the small bags) are available for pickup from participating Pizza Pizza retail outlets, Toronto community centres and civic centres.
- The deadline for organizations and large groups to register for the 20-Minute Makeover is April 8 – online at http://www.toronto.ca/litter or by calling 311. Registration allows City staff to arrange special same-day litter pickup.
Saturday, April 16, is Mayor Rob Ford’s Community Clean-up Day:
- This is an opportunity for community groups to clean up a park or other public space in their local neighbourhood.
- The deadline for organizations and large groups to register for Mayor Ford’s Community Clean-up Day is April 8 – online at http://www.toronto.ca/litter or by calling 311. Registration allows City staff to arrange special same-day litter pickup.

Mayor Ford launches CLEAN TORONTO TOGETHER
Today, Mayor Rob Ford announced the CLEAN TORONTO TOGETHER initiative – bringing together programs that help keep Toronto clean including graffiti eradication, the City’s three-week cleanup, the 20-Minute Makeover and Mayor Ford’s Community Clean-up Day.
“I campaigned to clean up Toronto’s streets and neighbourhoods,” said Mayor Ford. “We’re taking a grass-roots approach to cleaning up graffiti by engaging our Business Improvement Areas, Toronto Police, agencies, boards and commissions, corporate citizens, local schools and the arts community.”
The Mayor will participate in graffiti removal on Thursday, April 7.
