Vaughan Vision 2020, the City of Vaughan’s Strategic Plan, reports that Vaughan is one of Canada’s fastest growing cities, with a population of over 250,000:
- It is projected that the number of residents will increase to 430,000 by 2031
- Vaughan is home to a well-diversified and expanding employment sector with over 8,000 businesses and 150,000 employees
- The City has the largest supply of new employment lands in the Greater Toronto Area and it is projected that the number of employees will increase to 278,000 by 2031
According to the expectation that Vaughan will begin the transition from a growing suburban municipality to a fully urban space in the next 25 years, the Vaughan Vision 2020 strategic plan sets out a vision and direction for the City over the next decade and beyond:
