Torontonians invited to celebrate National Forest Week on social media

The City of Toronto’s Urban Forestry branch of Parks, Forestry and Recreation will celebrate National Forest Week, September 21 to 27, by engaging the public on social media.

Urban Forestry will host a Twitter chat from 7 to 8 p.m. on National Tree Day – Wednesday, September 24 – with partners the Canadian Institute of Forestry, Forests Ontario, Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests, Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation, Tree Canada and the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Forestry.

The conversation will focus on Toronto’s urban tree health – specifically the protection, maintenance, growth and appreciation of Toronto’s trees and forests, and will also address the subject of careers in forestry.

To participate, social media users can include the #TreeDayChat hashtag in each tweet to keep their posts in the conversation stream.

In addition to hosting the Twitter chat, Urban Forestry will post information daily about these subjects from @TOTrees and the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/NaturalEnvironmentTO.
