This video presents “Transition Town: What’s it all about?”
- Several activists of the Transition Network explain the Transition idea.
The Treemobile is a volunteer-run project of Transition Guelph & Transition Toronto that can provide fruit-bearing trees and shrubs to their members at as low-cost as they can, deliver them to your door, and offer location and plant care consultation (by phone or email), and even do the planting!*
*Delivery and planting only within delivery zones (in the communities of Guelph and Toronto, Ontario, Canada).
Want to make a difference in the lost tree canopy – due to the ice storm – of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) this year? This is your chance!
An important message from Transition Toronto:
“It’s finally here! Treemobile will deliver food-bearing trees and shrubs to plant in your yard. And I mean literally deliver! Just make your order at the Treemobile online store! Deliveries are scheduled for the weekend of April 26th, so get orders in soon!
This year is the first year Treemobile is happening in Toronto. It’s a pilot project for us, run by volunteers, and it’s not a fund-raiser (note the minimal prices at the store). We just want to see more local food and more trees in the ground. Speaking of volunteer-run, if you want to help out, check out what we need from volunteers at the Treemobile project page. We need people who want to get their hands dirty! Email us at transitiontoronto@gmail.com to help. We also need help promoting the project, and people who help us with that can win The Transition Companion. Learn how that works here.
The Treemobile store is on a new web-platform that we’re sharing with Transition Guelph, the Transition group that originated Treemobile.
Here’s a poster you can help us with by posting it around the City (that’s how you can win The Transition Companion, but please ONLY POSTER IN APPROPRIATE AREAS, WITH PERMISSION! Read our postering guidance at the related blog post.”

The following video presents “Tree Mobile!”
- “Tree Mobile is a working group with Transition Guelph, which is a grass roots organization in the Guelph community working towards community resiliency.
- We had our best year yet with Tree Mobile with more than 950 orders of fruit producing trees and bushes! We got together, learned some tricks of the trade and distributed the plants throughout the Guelph community.
- Its aim is to foster food sovereignty, community, health, happiness, education – and dirty hands!
- We sell fruit trees and plants at low cost, then deliver or plant them for our clients.
- Treemobile is part of the Transition movement.“
The goals of the Transition Guelph & Transition Toronto Treemobile are:
- To increase our community’s resilience by planting more food-bearing trees and shrubs in the urban environment;
- To increase the urban tree canopy, thus improving air quality, soil stability, temperature moderation and carbon sequestration;
- To accomplish the above by making hardy, disease-resistent, climate-appropriate, and flavourful food-bearing trees and shrubs available to our members and Guelph residents at reasonable cost; and
- Promote and encourage the planting of local, heritage breeds of fruit and nut trees, and fruit-bearing shrubs.
