World Cat Day

World Cat Day is a celebration of the love and companionship that cats provide to people:
- Toronto Animal Services is encouraging the introduction of kittens and cats into life-long, loving homes.
- From August 8 to 15, Toronto Animal Services is offering two-for-the-price-of-one cat and kitten adoptions:
- “Share the love; share the savings by adopting a cat this week.
- Maybe you want two cats in your life or know someone else who wants one.
- It’s two adoptions for the price of one.”
- All kittens and cats are:
- spayed/neutered
- vaccinated
- vet checked
- microchipped
- Adoption fees are $75.00 plus tax:
- And from August 8 – 15 you get two cats for that price (licence fees, if applicable, are $15.00 per cat in addition to the adoption fee).
- To take advantage of the 2-for-1 World Cat Day adoption promotion, visit any one of Toronto Animal Services’ shelter locations, seven days a week from 10:30 am – 6:30 pm.
- West Region – 146 The East Mall (Hwy 427 and Dundas St. W)
- East Region – 821 Progress Ave. (Markham Rd. and 401)
- North Region – 1300 Sheppard Ave. West (Keele St. and Sheppard Ave. W)

- Toronto Animal Services will be visiting PJ’s Pet Centres at Scarborough Town Centre and Sherway Gardens from 1- 6 pm

This is an update to my previous blogs:
Waterfront Toronto, the City of Toronto and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority are working together to explore opportunities to accelerate development in the Port Lands:
- As part of the project, an economic analysis will be conducted to ensure options, including funding options for the Lower Don Lands and Don River Mouth, are accurately costed moving forward.
- Waterfront Toronto and the City of Toronto are nearing completion of a business and implementation plan for the Port Lands Acceleration Initiative.
- Public input has played a key role in shaping the plan to date:
- A final public meeting is being held to present updated findings and draft recommendations including the business case
- The public meeting will include an overview presentation and facilitated roundtable discussions for participants to provide feedback on the findings, recommendations and business case

Please note that a report on the emerging directions for the future of the Port Lands will go to the City of Toronto’s Executive Committee in September, and Toronto City Council in October 2012.
