The details regarding the voluntary recall of the affected products, Ground Beef Regular and Ground Beef Lean, are as follows:
- Ground Beef Regular and Ground Beef Lean were sold in plastic bags of varying weights on May 31, 2012
- from the Kabul Farms store located at 255 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
- from the Kabul Farms store located at 255 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
- The packages bear a sticker with the product name, the store’s name and the price.
- Consumers are advised to contact the retailer if you are unsure as to whether you have the affected beef products stored in your home freezer.
- There have been no confirmed illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

OTTAWA, June 5, 2012 – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume the ground beef described below because the products may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
The affected products, Ground Beef Reg. and Ground Beef Lean, were sold in plastic bags of varying weight on May 31, 2012 from the Kabul Farms store located at 255 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, ON. The packages bear a sticker with the product name, the store’s name and the price.
Consumers are advised to contact the retailer if you are unsure as to whether you have the affected beef products stored in your home freezer.
There have been no confirmed illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
Food contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with these bacteria my cause serious and potentially life-threatening illnesses. Symptoms include severe abdominal pain and bloody diarrhoea. Some people may have seizures or strokes and some may need blood transfusions and kidney dialysis. Others may live with permanent kidney damage. In severe cases of illness, people may die.
The retailer, Kabul Farms, 255 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, ON is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

OTTAWA, le 5 juin 2012 – L’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments (ACIA) avise la population de ne pas consommer les produits de bœuf haché décrits ci-dessous, car ces produits pourraient être contaminés par la bactérie E. coli O157:H7.
Les produits visés, le bœuf haché régulier et le bœuf haché maigre, ont été vendus dans des sacs de plastique de divers poids le 31 mai 2012 au magasin Kabul Farms situé au 255 Dundas Street West, à Mississauga (Ontario). On trouve sur l’emballage une étiquette avec le nom du produit, le nom du magasin et le prix.
Les consommateurs sont priés de communiquer avec leur détaillant s’ils ne sont pas certains d’avoir les produits de bœuf haché visés entreposés dans leur congélateur.
Aucun cas de maladie associé à la consommation de ces produits n’a été confirmé.
Les aliments contaminés par E. coli O157:H7 ne présentent pas nécessairement d’altération visible ni d’odeur suspecte. La consommation d’aliments contaminés par cette bactérie peut occasionner des maladies graves, parfois mortelles, qui se manifestent notamment par des douleurs abdominales intenses et de la diarrhée sanguine. Certaines personnes peuvent avoir des convulsions ou des accidents cérébrovasculaires, d’autres peuvent avoir besoin de transfusions sanguines et de dialyse. Dans certains cas, les dommages causés aux reins sont permanents. Dans les cas graves, la contamination par E. coli O157:H7 peut causer la mort.
Le détaillant, Kabul Farms, situé au 255 Dundas Street West, à Mississauga (Ontario), retire volontairement du marché les produits visés. L’ACIA surveille l’efficacité du rappel.
