Come celebrate Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, May 22 to 25, in Toronto, and Bruce & Grey Counties in Ontario, Canada!
- “EMS Week is an international event held annually on the 3rd week of May which celebrates everything ‘Paramedic’ and raises awareness of the vital role EMS plays in healthcare & public safety.
- To honour our paramedics, emergency medical dispatchers, support staff and administrators who are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week”
- And the theme this year is “EMS: More than a job – a calling”

Toronto Emergency Medical Services Week, May 19 -26
- Mayor Rob Ford proclaims May 19 – 26, 2012 as “Emergency Medical Services Week“ in recognition of our valued Emergency Medical Services professionals.
- Meet a paramedic during Emergency Medical Services Week wherein the following five events are opportunities for you to meet the men and women who serve the city as paramedics and emergency medical dispatchers – and to find out more about what they do:
Community Wellness Clinic- Tuesday, May 22
- 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.
- Members of the public are invited to:
- meet paramedics and emergency medical dispatchers
- have their blood pressure checked
- try cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- and try using an automatic external defibrillator (AED)
- Tours of an operational ambulance and a vintage ambulance will be offered.
Teach Kids CPR Day
- Wednesday, May 23
- 10:30 – 11:55 a.m.
- Opening remarks at 10:30 a.m.
- St. Paschal Baylon Catholic School, 15 Paschal Ct., North York
- Seventy-five Grade 7 students will receive hands-on CPR training with mannequins after watching an instructional video on how to recognize the need for CPR and how to use 9-1-1 for emergency calls.
- After the lesson, students will tour an ambulance and meet the EMS mascot, PG Bear.
Community Blood Donor Clinic
- Thursday, May 24
- 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Opening remarks at 10 a.m. by EMS Chief Paul Raftis and Chief Mike Nolan, Renfrew County and President, EMS Chiefs of Canada
- Location: Toronto EMS Headquarters, 4330 Dufferin St., parking off Lodestar Drive
- Toronto EMS invites the local community and other Greater Toronto Area EMS services to donate blood.

Toronto EMS Annual Award Ceremony
- Thursday, May 24

- Toronto EMS Headquarters, 4330 Dufferin St., parking off Lodestar Drive
- Residents, allied services (police and fire), paramedics and emergency medical dispatchers will be recognized for outstanding contributions to the community.
