World Wildlife Fund Canada (WWF-Canada) announces the release of the Team Earth Hour Anthem, created by composer Andrew Huang using lyrics submitted by Earth Hour fans.

WWF is calling on all Canadians to join Team Earth Hour in the fight against climate change.
Earth Hour is today between 8:30PM – 9:30PM (local time); make sure you switch off your lights to show your commitment to the fight against climate change.
Also, celebrate Earth Hour by joining WWF’s official Earth Hour performance in Toronto’s Distillery Historic District, Ontario, Canada, from 7:30pm to 9pm:
- Hosted by CBC’s Garvia Bailey,
- Hear the Team Earth Hour Anthem performed live for the first time
- Composer Andrew Huang has written the official rally cry, using lyrics submitted by Canadians on WWF Canada’s Facebook page
- Andrew will be joined on stage with Choir! Choir! Choir! in a sing-a-long performance the whole family can participate in
- Throughout the evening projection artist Jerrem Lynch will showcase a magical gallery of electric street art, projected on the walls of The Distillery
Please Consider Candle Fire Safety Tips When Using Candles
The City of Toronto reminds everyone that fire safety must be exercised during lights-out.
While many sources of fires are on the decline, candle fires have increased dramatically during the past decade.
Toronto Fire Services recommends not using candles – instead, use battery-powered flashlights.
If using candles, please follow these fire safety tips:
- Always stay in the room where candles are lit.
- Extinguish all candles when leaving the room, especially when going to sleep.
- Don’t use candles in bedrooms.
- Keep candles at least one metre away from anything that can burn.
- Keep candles, matches and lighters hidden and out of the reach of children and pets.
- Use sturdy candle holders that won’t tip or burn.
- Those with glass shades
- or chimneys are safer.
- Extinguish candles when they burn to within five centimetres (two inches) of their holder.
- Make sure that you have working smoke alarms on every storey of your home.
- Practice your home fire escape plan.

Earth Hour candle fire safety
Toronto residents will join millions of people around the globe by switching lights off to celebrate Earth Hour on Saturday, March 31 at 8:30 p.m.
The City of Toronto reminds everyone that fire safety must be exercised during lights-out.
