Changes to Front St. at Union Station: Results of Toronto’s Final Public Consultation

• In response to comments submitted during public consultation we have published a thorough and Updated Questions and Answers document

• The City of Toronto’s Public Works and Infrastructure Committee (PWIC) will be considering the outcome of this study at its  February 15, 2012 meeting, item PW12.5

  • This just came to my attention on February 10, 2012: “The Public Works and Infrastructure Committee has rescheduled the meeting previously scheduled for Wednesday, February 15, 2012 to Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in Committee Room 2, Toronto City Hall.

     This rescheduling is required in order to accommodate a special meeting of City Council on February 15, to consider a report on Collective Bargaining Negotiations with Toronto Civic Employees’ Union Local 416 (CUPE).

    Our apologies for any inconvenience this rescheduling may caused you.”

It is interesting to note the following next steps:

• should Council approve the recommended design
  • upon its review by Public Works and Infrastructure Committee (February 15, 2012 – is changed to February 16, 2012 as explained above) and
  • subsequent Council meeting on March 5, 2012

• then staff would proceed to file a Notice of Completion for the mandatory 30 day period for public review

• assuming any concerns raised are resolved, the City may proceed

• the City would work with TTC to coordinate schedules such that the basic infrastructure would be in place by mid-2014.

• some surface enhancements may follow, depending on funding
