This is an update to my previous blog You’re Invited: “The Coming Election – What it Means for Clean Energy in Ontario.”

At the above Green Neighbours 21’s meeting the main message from Cheryl McNamara of Citizens’ Climate Lobby Toronto is as follows:

“Green Energy Act

Ontario PC leader Tim Hudak announced on May 10 that if elected in October he will end the feed-in-tariff (FIT) program and scrap the $7-billion Samsung green energy deal. This announcement has serious consequences.

In just two years Ontario’s Green Energy Act and FIT program have generated thousands of clean tech jobs, and have employed thousands of construction and tradesworkers. The Act and FIT programs are helping Ontario get its struggling economy back on track, and making Ontario a world leader in one of the fastest growing industries globally – clean tech development.

Any mention of undermining the mechanism that is generating this level of activity causes economic uncertainty. Take action!
