Local Economy Will Benefit From Increased Tourism And Investment
Ottawa’s economy is turning the corner helped by the opening of the new Ottawa Convention Centre, which will boost tourism and business investment.
The new Ottawa convention centre will attract thousands of visitors; currently there are 141 events scheduled, including 90 conventions. These events will generate an estimated $200 million in economic benefits over the next five years. Confirmed events have resulted in the creation of almost 3,000 jobs.
The new centre makes Ottawa an even more desirable destination in the lucrative — and highly competitive — convention business. The new building is three times the size of the original, with approximately 200,000 square feet of meeting space and the ability to accommodate up to 5,000 visitors.
